NJM supported a regional Home Office-sponsored anti-fraud forum in arranging a lobbying and networking visit to Brussels.

The forum was keen to develop links with key officials in an effort to influence the policy-making process and position the organisation in relation to future funding opportunities. As a result of the interest shown by officials in the work carried out by the forum, its membership has been invited to participate in anti-fraud policy groups. Similar activities involving RDAs, universities and companies have lead to participation in research projects and EU conferences.

A regional development agency sought to re-examine its policy toward European research funding.

NJM were tasked with researching the relative strength and depth of the public and private sector research base in the region and its ability to lever funding from European R&TD programmes. The report led to a shift in policy and NJM were subsequently tasked with preparing a strategy for the RDA to effectively drive university and industrial participation in these programmes.
